Our very own Service Co-ordinator Janet Melling sets herself a challenge

Janet started volunteering for Lagan’s Foundation as a Home Support Worker in late 2017, she has recently joined the team at Head Office as a Service Co-ordinator. A vital role which enables both volunteers and families to stay informed and supported, as well as developing and growing our Lagan’s Care project.

In Janet’s own words “It didn’t take me long to realise what a fantastic service the volunteers provide to the families they support, but that support obviously comes at a cost. That combined with the fact i was fast approaching my 50th year made me realise I wanted to do something that would benefit not only myself but also such a worthwhile cause. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge seemed like something to aim for so on Sept 1st 2018 I will be hoping to complete this challenge.”

The Yorshire 3 Peaks Challenge is 24 miles (38.6km) long, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent, taking on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Janet has set herself the extra goal of completing it in under 12 hours if possible, but completion no matter how long is my main aim. All the team at Lagan’s Foundation are very proud of Janet and know she will rise to the challenge.

If you feel you could donate to Janet’s challenge, no matter what the amount please pop along to her sponsorship page HERE. Janet and Lagan’s Foundation would be extremely grateful.
