Two big hearted businesses have donated life-saving equipment to a Bolton charity, which delivers respite care for children with congenital heart defects.
Safe Life UK&I Group and Primedic have donated 12 defibrillators to Lagan’s Foundation which is based at Futura Park, Middlebrook.
The charity will now work in partnership with children’s hospitals across the UK to see how the donated machines can support families with children waiting for external defibrillators.
Lagan’s Foundations’ devoted, highly skilled team provide specialist care and respite in the family home, alongside vital emotional support.
The charity is also the only organisation in the UK offering donated respite care to families with children under five years, who would otherwise receive no help at all.
Last month, Safe Life UK&I Group, chose Lagan’s Foundation as their Charity of the Year and have also pledged to donate £1 from the sale of every defibrillator this year.
Safe Life UK&I Group is made up of five businesses Defibshop, Defib Warehouse, Defib Store, Defib Machines and Heart Safety Solutions.
Primedic, which is based in Germany, manufacturers defibrillators and donated the machines as part of the new patronage.
Carren Bell, Founder and CEO of Lagan’s Foundation said: “The generous donation of 12 defibrillators from the Safe Life UK&I Group and Primedic is incredible. It will allow us to support even more families with children with congenital heart defects and complex needs. Some children are forced to live within the confines of the hospital whilst they wait to receive an external defibrillator. They often have to rely on friends and family fundraising which when you have a sick child is difficult.”
Lyndsey Hope, Managing Director of Defibshop, said “As the Safe Life UK&I Group of companies covering the UK & Ireland, we couldn’t be more proud to have Lagans Foundation as our Charity of the Year and do our small part in helping support the fantastic work that they do for families who find themselves in a very stressful and upsetting situation. We understand how important it is for critically ill children to be able to go home, and hope this partnership brings help to as many families as possible.”
