What does a family support worker do?

Whilst each child will have their own unique care needs, and families require a range of support. Typical duties can include;

  • Personal Care
  • Support accessing the community
  • Overnight supervision and care
  • Managing risk
  • Supporting parents to take a break
  • Monitoring the overall health and well-being of the child

We are always looking for family support workers to support the children and families referred to us who live in in the Liverpool City Region. As such, there is no such deadline on this vacancy.

Location: Liverpool, Sefton, St Helen’s, Halton, Knowsley

Job Types: Full-time and Part-time

Salary: Starting at  £9.30 p/h

Hours:
Typical shifts are based on a min of 2 hour visits:

Term Time Weekdays

  • 6.30am / 7am to 9am / 9.30am
  • 4pm to 10pm
  • 10pm – 6.30am

Non Term Time Weekdays

  • 7am to 10 pm

Weekends

  • 4 to 8 hour shifts between 9am and 8pm

We do not work Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day.

Previous experience as a care assistant with disabled children is essential.

Other skills and experience that are important to us are:

Experience:

  • Moving and Handling : 1 year (Preferred)
  • Supporting children: 1 year (Preferred)

Licence:

  • Full Car Licence and Own car to use for the job (Required)
  • DBS Enhanced Child Workforce (Preferred)

Appointment to this position will be subject to a successful DBS check and passing the 2 day initial introductory practical / theory mandatory assessment.

WE CAN FAST TRACK YOU APPLICATION IF YOUR DBS IS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE & PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF PREVIOUS TRAINING.

Training

You will be trained to carry out all the duties required as a Family Support Worker and where required you may also be given the opportunity to receive additional training to carry out more complex tasks as part of your progression and to meet the needs of the specific care of a child.

All training needs will be provided for you including options to gain:

  • TQUK Level 2 Award in Community Care for Children and Infants with Heart Defects or Feeding issues
  • Level 3 Senior Healthcare Worker Standard
