A NEW community care hub offering fully funded Coffee and Play sessions has been launched for parents of children with complex needs in Lancashire.

A NEW community care hub offering fully funded Coffee and Play sessions has been launched for parents of children with complex needs in Lancashire.

It is being organised by Lagan’s Foundation, a Northwest charity which offers home respite and care to families with infants and children diagnosed with health conditions, specialising in heart defects and feeding difficulties.

The Lancashire Care Hub offers monthly events at sensory and immersive centres or other accessible venues across the county, from Morecambe to Skelmersdale. Sessions have already been booked in Preston, Leyland, Burnley and Chorley, with many more to follow over the coming months.

Children can enjoy playing with support from the charity’s highly skilled carers, while their parents take the opportunity to relax and connect with each other.

Lagan’s Foundation was successful in applying for £20,000 National Lottery Community to fund the Hub for 12 months.

Through the Lancashire Care Hub, families will be able to:

· Connect with other parents and carers who share similar experiences

· Enjoy a Coffee and a Chat while the children play

· Access tailored resources and signposting to local health and support services

One of the parents who has attended the Hub events, Christine Parry, said, “An inspiring team that welcomed myself and my girls in an inclusive and playful way. My girls Georgia and Olivia have so much fun at the events and I felt valued and listened too by a supportive ear.”

Carren Bell, Founder and CEO of Lagan’s Foundation, said, “Parents often tell us how isolated they feel, unsure where to turn for local support. The Lancashire Care Hub is our answer to that – a welcoming space where families can grow stronger together.

“Our hubs offer a relaxed space to connect with other parents and have a well-earned break, while our trained carers play with the children. Our staff and partners will also be on hand to offer practical advice and guidance if needed.

“As we grow into Lancashire, our mission remains clear. We want to bring families together, showcase who we are and what we do and let them know they are never alone.”
