Lagan’s Cycle Challenge is back!

Join us for the landmark 10th year of Lagan’s Cycle Challenge – an event that’s bigger and better than ever!

Hosted by Lagan’s Foundation, this inclusive challenge is open to everyone. Whether you’re an individual, a team, a family, or representing another charity, this is your chance to ride for a cause close to your heart.

Journey through the breathtaking Pennines on our scenic routes, where every climb is rewarded with views that, on a clear day, stretch as far as North Wales, Cheshire, and Blackpool. The challenge will take place on Sunday, 27th April. Online registration is now open, with limited on-the-day entry available. Ride registration opens from 8am for chip timing collection, and the ride will start promptly at 9am.

Lagan’s Cycle Challenge, developed in 2016 in memory of Lagan, has brought cyclists from across the North West to take on one of three routes, each representing the uphill battle faced by children with heart defects.

Every cyclist will be celebrated with a medal and certificate, alongside special trophies awarded to the first finishers on each route. This is a sportive, and rules of the road apply.

We’ll have light refreshments at the finish and a food & drink stall, but please bring plenty of water and any essentials you may need during the event. This year, we’re also introducing Feed/Water Stations at Anglezarke and Foxholes peaks to keep you fuelled and hydrated.

Our Family Fun Zone is back and bigger than ever! With games, a climbing wall, and a cycling skills zone to test your abilities, there’s something for everyone. Bring the family, gear up, and make lasting memories together.

Over the years, we’ve grown the team to help build the event, and we remain focused on making it the best volunteer-marshalled cycling event around. The positive feedback we receive year after year highlights that our volunteers are truly the heart of the event, ensuring every cyclist feels safe and supported.

“This year, we’re hoping to raise £10,000 for Lagan’s Foundation, but we’re also excited to support other charities through our partnership scheme. For the first time, we’re focusing on raising funds for other causes. We’d love to see more clubs and organisations take part, making the event as inclusive as possible while bringing together more participants and volunteers than ever before to make it a success.”
