What is a Domiciliary Care Worker?
A domiciliary care worker provides additional support to someone within their home, allowing them to maintain their independence but offering help with tasks they may consider challenging.
At Lagan’s Foundation, a care worker is responsible for providing support and care to children with complex health needs, a heart condition or feeding issue upon request, and their families.
What is the role of a Domiciliary Care Worker?
The role of a domiciliary care worker is extremely varied. The main role is to visit people in their own home and offer assistance where required. Tasks can be different each day from personal care, household tasks or community integration.
With Lagan’s Foundation, care packages are commissioned so the role is in accordance to the specific care needs of the child and family.
Your role is to support their health and well being as much as possible.
Some of the activities you would be expected to support with include:
- Personal Care
- Support accessing the community
- Overnight supervision and care
- Managing risk
- Supporting parents to take a break
- Monitoring the overall health and well-being of the child
- Play
