Lagan's Foundation

Lagan's Cycle Challenge 2024

Our Lagan's Cycle Challenge, developed in 2016 in memory of Lagan, brings in cyclists across the North West to complete one of our three routes, all of which represent the major uphill battle a child with heart defects has to fight.

Join us on Sunday 28th April for our 9th annual Cycle Challenge!

This event tackles the challenging inclines along the way and enjoys the fabulous views to North Wales, Cheshire and Blackpool. Now with Chip Timing!

Not for the faint-hearted – don’t be fooled by the distances, take a look at the inclines! If you are training for a bigger event this will be a fantastic challenge to start the spring with.

We will once again be offering 3 routes to choose from allowing all abilities to come along and take part.

Every cyclist who completes their selected route will receive a medal and certificate with special trophies going to the first cyclist back on each route.

Light refreshments will be available at the end of the ride.

MAX TIME: 5 Hours – sweeper vehicle will be in operation to collect any riders that are unable to complete the route in that time. Over 16’s only, all riders must wear a helmet, no helmet no participation.

We will have some light refreshments at the finish, and food & drink stalls including Carrs sausage and vegan sausage rolls , but please ensure you have plenty of water and any other snacks and refreshments you feel you may need during the event.

Please ensure your bike is road worthy and race ready for the event, we suggest you bring some basic items along with you such as inner tubes so you can carry out any basic repairs needed on the day. We hope to once again secure our professional bike mechanic present at the event, he will only be available at the start of the event for hints and tips and to assist in emergency repairs or more serious breakdowns on the course. Any items needed from the bike mechanic will need to be purchased on the day from him.

There will be plenty of event staff at the start to help with registration and any questions you may have. There will also be marshals at various key points throughout the route to point you in right direction and ensure all riders get through safely to the next point. We will also have crew vehicles out on the course who will have basic equipment and bike racks should they be needed.

Please note the 3 routes available, we will be emailing GPX files for your chosen route in advance to familiarise yourself with the route. All routes will be signed and marshalled every mile and at turning points. Please note that signs are bright orange but for those taking part in the long route when you start your extra section starting in Adlington your signs will become bright pink and then return orange once again once you re-join the standard route.
