‘It’s Mental’ 2023: Event Recap

Last Friday, 3rd Feb we attended the first ever It’s Mental event at The University of Bolton Stadium!

Last Friday, 3rd Feb we attended the first ever It’s Mental event at The University of Bolton Stadium!

The unique one day event provided the opportunity to participate in a range of Wellbeing Coaching Sessions, Physical Activities, Holistic Therapies, Nutrition and an opportunity to get involved in community projects and interventions. There were demonstrations throughout the day and stands where attendees could purchase products and services.

Our Founder, Carren, spoke in the ‘Givers Gain Zone’ amongst other charity leaders from the likes of Bolton Hospice, BackUp North West and Rivington Heritage Trust. As part of her speech she told the story of our charity, her own struggles trying to raise a family whilst raising a sick child and how she coped from being apart from her loved ones.

She also went into detail about how hard it was being on her own and how she felt the care she was given was inadequate, which was the main drive for her setting up our unique charity where her team continue to provide support for parents who are struggling with the care of their child with Complex Health Needs.

We also had a stand at the event, which was kindly covered by our friends over at Fieldings Porter. It was great to network with event attendees and to continue raising awareness of congenital heart defects as part of Heart Month. The event was also the debut of our interactive training doll, which allows people to see the effect that heart defects have on a baby in order to better understand possible defects.

It was a great opportunity for us to network with other charities and those working in the health industry, and we will definitely be continuing conversations with them moving forwards!
